Simplicity Meets Power

When we developed Jobvite, we discovered we had no visibility into what our project teams were actually doing. We used spreadsheets, email, and calendars, but what was missing was a unified view of the projects, tasks, and schedules our people were working on. We simply had no useful tools to organize our teams. So we invented one.

BasicOps is designed from the ground up to enable collaboration on a company level. Our central goal as we created BasicOps was to focus on the thing that needs to be done, how to track it, work as a team, and do it all online, in the cloud, in real time.

We made BasicOps easy enough to use so people would actually use it. But don’t be fooled. Behind that button-click simplicity are powerful tools to help you organize teams, communicate instantly, create projects, assign tasks, and track schedules as your team drives toward completion.

Meet The Founders

Jesper Schultz

CEO & Co-Founder

Jesper Schultz is a serial tech entrepreneur and executive who melds the experience of starting and growing companies with the drive to facilitate team collaboration through the development of software products.

With more than 20 years of experience hiring and leading world-class teams, Jesper understands how, when, and where great work happens. In partnership with his co-founder Hans Larsen, Jesper created BasicOps to transform productivity and collaboration. With a Scandinavian sensibility for design and user experience, he developed this intuitive, easy-to-use internet-based platform to address real pain points for growing companies and collaborative teams that he had experienced first-hand as a founder.

Prior to BasicOps, Jesper and Hans founded the world’s leading recruitment platform, Jobvite. Called the “Facebook of talent acquisition”, Jobvite grew quickly and an early version of BasicOps was inspired by their own need to manage the increasingly complex projects and tasks associated with scaling a company. During their time at Jobvite, they observed that nothing existed that met their needs to work collaboratively, create detailed, actionable project plans and track progress toward major milestones. They created it for themselves and knew that BasicOps was an essential solution for other companies in need of a single destination to replace endless emails, apps, and spreadsheets.

Before his entrepreneurial journey, Jesper spent several years leading engineering teams as CTO and co-founder of Voice Media Lab, specializing in voice control of entertainment systems. He was also Vice President of Engineering at Mediabolic and held engineering and management roles at Borland International.

Jesper holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Technical University of Denmark. He lives in the Bay Area with Estelle and their two children. An avid skier, he can often be found on the slopes at Tahoe.

Hans Larsen

CTO & Co-Founder

Hans Larsen is the Chief Technology Officer, architect, and co-founder of BasicOps. Throughout the past twenty years, Hans has been behind the development of numerous tech platforms that optimize how people work and more importantly, how they work together.

Prior to BasicOps, in partnership with his co-founder Jesper Schultz, Hans founded Jobvite, a web-based recruiting software. As Chief Architect, he created a platform that grew to serve more than 1,600 companies around the world, helping over 46 million job seekers find placement with their clientele including Twitter, LinkedIn, and Gamesys.

As Jobvite rapidly grew, they observed that a solution was needed for organizations to provide their teams with a single platform to communicate, collaborate, and manage increasingly intricate projects. After leaving Jobvite and brainstorming on their next venture, Hans and Jesper developed an early version of BasicOps to meet this very need. With a keen understanding of how high-performing teams work together toward optimal outputs, Hans designed BasicOps to be an intuitive, inviting, and inclusive centralized hub with all the functionality to get collaborative work done: communication, project management, and file storage.

Hans has developed numerous software and ground-breaking web applications during his career in technology. Previously he was Chief Architect at NetObjects and other firms offering ASP solutions.

Hans holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Technical University of Denmark. He lives in San Francisco and enjoys hiking the trails in and around the Bay Area.
